The Metaverse has fallen short of the lofty expectations set during its peak hype cycle, but that does not necessarily mean the underlying opportunity has disappeared. Today's limitations stem less from a lack of vision than from incomplete infrastructure, fragmented platforms, immature business models, and evolving regulation. The long-term financial opportunity may ultimately depend on whether these foundational challenges are solved rather than on the success or failure of any single virtual world.
